About Philtrum Reduction
A precision design surgery that comprehensively considers philtrum length, upper lip shape, lip volume, and lip curve (C-curl or Cupid's bow).
An incision is made below the sub-columella or along the upper lip border to minimize externally visible scarring. Micro-incision and double suturing techniques are used to prevent the suture line from being prominent.
As the philtrum is shortened, the upper lip is pulled upward, revealing more of the red portion of the lip and revitalizing the entire lip line. The change is especially noticeable when the lips were thin or the lip line was flat.
A long philtrum can make the face look overall longer or aged; adjusting this creates an effect where the mid-face appears shorter, improving overall facial balance.
